Prefuse 73 is back. Woo!! I've always though the guy can't do no wrong but now I'm older and more bitter what would be my take on it you wonder? The Class of 73 Bells is excellent!! I wasn't sure at first but after a couple of listens the hooks kick in. It almost reminds me of one of the Various Production folky tunes (with the female vocals) albeit with the Scott Heron flute thing and some of those warm organic beats the man does so well. More like the Savath & Savalas gear we reckon. The EP also features that due from Battles punishing some skins... But wait... there's 2 more tracks. One is a more kicking Prefusey type of tune which thunders along like thundercat and you also get a wierd more orchestra version of the lead track which is well lush. A Great little EP!Warp Records are proud to announce the return of Prefuse 73. This stunning slab of plastic features two killer tracks taken from the forthcoming album, ‘Preparations’.Name dropped by musicians all over the world, Prefuse 73 aka Guillermo Scott Herren is back with a rollicking return to form.Known for his collaborations with other artists, these two tracks don’t disappoint. First up is ‘Class Of 73 Bells’ featuring the ethereal female chanting of twins, Alejandra & Claudia Deheza, from electronic shoe gazers The School Of Seven Bells. It’s an instant soundtrack to the summer. Turn it up because next up is ‘Red Smoking’, featuring the tightest drumming possible by the one and only John Stanier, of the behemoth Battles.
