Lunacy now.... welcome to ooioo which is some nutjobs from The Boredoms. Here's a remix CD called 'Eye remix' on Thrill Jockey which bizarrely enough features 2 remixes from Eye from The Boredoms. Hot on the heels of their latest record of hard-hitting polyrhythmic skree, OOIOO have unleashed fellow sonic cohort Eye from Boredoms to dismember and reassemble two of their songs.Eye and OOIOO (aka Yoshimi) are both founding members of the seminal Japanese band Boredoms, who continue to thrill audiences worldwide with their singular brand of transcendent large ensemble psychedelia.‘UMO’ and ‘UMA’ from OOIOO’s ‘Taiga’ album get the remix treatment here, resulting in two long tracks that reinvent Yoshimi’s jet-propelled psychedelic pep rallies as bass-driven electro slammers. As Eye has shown us on recent Boredoms records, he has an uncanny knack for harnessing a groove and blowing it up to a previously unknown scale, and that’s exactly what he does here. The CD comes in a full colour digipak with deluxe spot-matte finishing and obi strip. The vinyl single comes in a full colour sleeve with the same artwork and printing, and is strictly limited to 1,000 copies worldwide.
