This record left our Phil feeling ecstatic.

Damned there's some good records this week. Here's Adam Gnade And Youthmovies together on the cracking Try Harder label. 'Honey Slides' is a 5 track CD EP of some of the freshest sounds I've heard in ages. The opener is like Foals (but with Adam talking all street poet like all over the shop). In fact that's what Adam Gnade does... he rants and raves all over the place at the right moment to create some right special moments just for your 2 ears. It works remarkably well over Youthmovies post rock/ prog/ electronic noodlings. Together they make a rather enjoyable and moving EP. The 1st 3 tracks are more gutar based tunes but the last 2 are some crazy electronic/avant garde shit which were unexpected but they really add to this great EP. I reckon it would be fantastic to see this performed live. Thumbs up

Youthmovies are a bunch of rowdy Oxford lads making wildly-engaging progressive prog-pop. Adam Gnade is an experimental-folk musician from the US, who has been often lumped into the New Weird America/freak-folk camp. Honey Slides? five collaborative tracks are the product of a debauched two-week UK tour. The EP was written on the road, improved during insane collaborative sets, and recorded on a chilly, grey day at Oxford’s Warehouse Studios while a bottle of murky port was passed around the room. Adam did the lyrics and vocals. Youthmovies did the rest. Honey Slides is a departure from Adam’s noise-informed death-folk and Youthmovies’ big epicness. It is, above all else, a new animal born to two mothers, an engaging, weird, dancy, absorbing, electronic pop tapestry. Youthmovies’ full-length debut will be released in early 2008. Adam’s first book, “Hymn California” which continues the stories of the  
characters from his songs, will be out in winter 2007
