What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Phil feeling happy.

Yet more goodness with iLIKETRAINS. A right old bunch of mardy lads from my end of Yorkshire. They make a most miserable post rock sound which will make you mope around with your head in your hands wondering what on earth you're living for. How dare you. Well there's something spiritually uplifting in their misery and this new tune called 'The Deception' is another feather to their enormously feathery hat. I'm allergic to feathers so hopefully I won't actually meet 'em otherwise I'll be in hospital in no time. There's a piece of genuine trivia for you. If anyone wants to guess any of my other many allergies (I have 10 in total) I'll knock a quid off any future order placed for any guessed right. This is pure drama and tension rammed onto a small mardy 7". There is a smaller shiny counterpart but I play the 7" as it's bigger. Quality.

What the label says:

iLiKETRAiNS have been honing their singular art since 2005.   Their sound is an amalgam of carefully structured, majestic melodies and huge instrumental patterns, set to a narrative of past historical figures. The resulting spine-tingling songs unashamedly ignore pop’s concerns.Though history may seem an unlikely 'rock' topic, iLiKETRAiNS succeed thoroughly in bringing past into present via incredible, rousing tales of courage and failure set against beautiful, often monstrous musical pieces. Since signing to Beggars Banquet, the US release of ‘Progress Reform’ and a sell out debut show at SXSW festival – all this year – the band have gone from strength to strength. Now the band have self-produced a wonderful debut album, ‘Elegies to Lessons Learnt’, due for release later this year.First single, ‘The Deception’, tells how proud determination and courageous spirit can fog the natural instinct of survival, with disastrous consequences. The tale is told through the eyes of an ill-fated round the world yachtsman. It is accompanied by a self-directed video featuring a voiceover from ‘60s radio presenter and shipping forecaster Peter Jefferson.
