Fibla - Liants

Liants by Fibla

One of the most important artists in the Spanish electronic scene, Fibla is back, still willing to be faithful to his musical enthusiasm, still surprising and giving moments of real pleasure. Seven years after his debut for Sub Rosa / Quatermass, and four since second album ‘Lent’ on his own Spa.rk label, Fibla’s intrincate melodies and distintive rhythmic patterns return on ‘Liants’, which is his most personal and unorthodox record to date. Perhaps the most intimate too, and at the same time a record in which his ideas appear in the clearest and more accessible way, coming from someone who is really in control of his creative tools. Rhodes piano, xylophones and strings works in an essentially digital context but all in a poppy context, albeit a pop heritage distilled and deconstructed to take on a new, etherial and abstract shape. With its carefully nurtured sounds and surpassing the usual catalogue of current electronic tendencies, ‘Liants’ encloses small gems full of evocative atmospheres of sunny Mediterranean afternoons; unhurried music, and with no immediate effects or chep thrills, but a deeply fulfilling experience to look back on when it’s over.
