Little Dragon: 'S/T' (Peacefrog) A new female fronted, singer song writing partnership from Jose Gonzales's backing band. Hailing from Sweden this four piece comprises of three parts electronics, drums, percussion and the voice of one Yukimi Nagano. Phil, Norman's head honcho makes an immediate comparison between Danni Scilliano, the Mathew Herbert collaborator. I think she comes across as a more polished version of Georgia Anne Muldrew (check her recent Stones Throw release), tracks four and five are my favorites- coming across like some sort of sparse swingbeat style R'n'B. In fact if you like the better, earlier work of the likes of Destiny's Child, Brandy et al them you'll probably love this. Ant is reminded of Corinne Bailey-Rae. Makes me feel heartbroken over those women who have weakened me at the knees, heart and mind....

Featuring radiant vocalist Yukimi Nagano and her close high school friends Erik Bodin (drums), Fredrick Källgren (bass) and Håkan Wirenstrand (keyboards), Little Dragon stepped into the spotlight with the release of their first double A-side single on Peacefrog (home to José and Findlay Brown), ‘Twice’/’Test’. A former Rough Trade ‘Single of the Week’ and “universally hailed as a masterpiece of free thinking soul”, according to One Week To Live.·Yukimi has sung with Sweden’s electronica-jazz outfit Koop, and both Yukimi and Erik play live with José González. Erik also drums with Peps Perrson, a legendary Swedish blues/reggae artist.
