Echospace: "The Coldest Season" (Modern Love) Is a collaboration between Rod Modell (Deepchord) and Steven Hitchell (Soultek) that summons up the genre defining template created by Maurizio (Basic Channel), Monolake, Fluxion et al. Not entirely a new spin on the dubbed out blurred techno blueprint, but one that plumbs the depths of cavernous space occupied by smudged keys, enveloping sequences, washed out pads, lush vistas and pulsing metronomic echoplexed b-lines. Nine tracks deep that continues the post-techno legacy, Detroit and elsewhere. Not surprisingly it's the sort of dope alchemy that induces feelings of opiated consumption that's equally illustrative of a smoky club (those days are long gone hey!?)or converesly, a warm summers day in the park-hovering above the masses."the textures of The Coldest Season are so restlessly organic that listening becomes as absorbing as observing a teeming viral
culture" THE WIRE // "brilliantly catchy" THE SKINNY //
"Fantastic" HOT PRESS // "the same effect as the enveloping warmth of an MDMA hit." DJ
"Empyrean will blow your mind and is a track you could seriously lose the plot to" IDJ MAGAZINE
"It's evocative stuff, conjuring up images of a cold and alien inhabited zone in deep space isolation. Absolutely staggering
ambient dub-techno and highly recommended." residentadvisor.net
"The Coldest Season's twelves are all sublime riffs on the Basic Channel/Chain Reaction template." textura.org
"this is still lovely dubby techno" gridface.com
