info : pendle coven seem to confuse people. never quite managing to settle down into one signature sound, they've jumped
from producing purist '92 style hardcore through to abstract techno minimalism and the kind of euphoric 4/4 the kompakt crew
would be proud of. with the benefit of hindsight it all starts to make a little more sense - and the stylistic signatures can be
honed in on when looking at the sound of the modern love label as a whole - this is music designed for the floor with a BASS
obsession motivating and guiding every progression, break and change. "habitual stress" on the a-side is perhaps pendle's
most relentless club emission to date, everything about this track evokes the darkest, most demented club space you've ever
occupied, a cavernous resonance and a squashed acid signature guiding you into the nether regions of the night with vigour
and abandon. "brick tutor" is, by contrast, a more velveteen affair : padded kick-drums and washed-out strings align
themselves around crisp snares and a 6am vibe, the flipside to pendle coven's forever rotating coin.
