What the label says:

This collection of rediscovered old gems celebrates the 20-year anniversary of cult favourites Ooberman's 1987 founding at a rundown comprehensive school in Bradford.  Between then and their first album in 1998 there were 11 years of growing up, experiments and four track demos - the highlights are presented here alongside more recent rarities including one truly outstanding new track 'You're Too Beautiful'. Ooberman Facts, formed at school in 1987. First single on Graham Coxon's Transcopic Label in 1998. First EP Shorley Wall took the UK by storm in 1998 and if chart eligible would have gone top ten. Top 40 hit Blossoms Falling in 1998. Four Glastonbury appearances 1998-2002. Four critically acclaimed albums 1999-2006. The Ooberman Sound: intelligent, poetic, glorious orchestral prog-pop with huge harmonies and wistful psychedelic folk overtones; the sound of lost summer days and dark winter fairytales. The Oober-men The most overqualified band in UK rock history, Ooberman have 3 first class degrees and one PhD between them.  Between recording critically acclaimed orchestral prog rock pop psychedelic folk Oober-masterpieces, they have each forged successful sidelines.  Leader Dan Pop (writer, producer) has become an orchestral film composer with music on every major TV station in the world including the recent Final Fantasy XII TV advert narrated by Patrick Stewart.  Sophia Churney (vocals) combines operatic session singing with training for a Doctorate in Psychology.  Indie's very own Indiana Jones Steve Flett (bass) has fitted in a world tour as part of Echo and the Bunnymen alongside lecturing in Ancient History; meanwhile Andy Flett (guitars) still lives the rock dream with solo project Ooberon and designs power stations in his spare time.

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.
