OVERVIEW: Charlotte Gainsbourg, the celebrated French actress and singer, releases '5:55' – the title track to her acclaimed 2006 album. The single features new remixes of the track by Metronomy & Black Ghosts. Metronomy, aka Joseph Mount, is a highly acclaimed electronic artist based in Brighton. The last year has seen him remix some of the worlds most acclaimed artists including Franz Ferdinand, Gorillaz, Klaxons and The Young Knives. He released his own long player, 'Pip Paine (Pay The £5000 You Owe)' last year on Holiphonic Records. Black Ghosts, featuring members of Simian and The Wiseguys, are set to release their debut album on Brighton based Southern Fried Records this summer. Their eclectic mix that draws from David Axelrod through to Timbaland has seen them hailed as one of the most innovative UK acts of the moment. The song's music was written by the French duo Air - Nicolas Godin and Jean-Benoit Dunckel - with lyrics by Jarvis Cocker. The single was produced by esteemed English producer Nigel Godrich while Canadian composer David Campbell – the father of Beck - was responsible for the string arrangements. Campbell’s previous credits include work not only with his son but also such artists as Elton John, Leonard Cohen and Michael Jackson. The line-up was completed with the great Nigerian percussionist Tony Allen, revered for his work with Afrobeat legend Fela Kuti. Allen’s recent work also includes 'The Good, The Bad and The Queen' album in January 2007.
