Young Galaxy - Young Galaxy

Young Galaxy by Young Galaxy

New from Arts & Crafts - home Broken Social Scene & associated side projects.
File Under: shoe-gazer, hand-claps, swirly, cosmic space-rock. Sounds good on a mix CD with: Fleetwood Mac, Spiritualized, The Flaming Lips, The Doves.
Pitchfork Media described Young Galaxy’s “Swing Your Heartache” as “gorgeous, cosmic and spiritual.”
“A lovely bit of celestial pop featuring sweet boy/girl harmonies that serves as a splendid introduction to an act.”– eye Weekly, Toronto
Young Galaxy is the creative confluence of kindred spirits, Stephen Ramsay (vocals/guitar) and Catherine McCandless (vocals/keyboards). They formed in Vancouver and moved to Montreal to live and to record their self-titled debut album. Through the summer of 2005 and the spring of 2006 they recorded with appearances and contributions of many dear friends at Jace Lasek’s Breakglass Studio. Their sound is kaleidoscopic, with heavy tones and hypnotic male/female vocals. Like their namesake, Young Galaxy has borne something concrete of something abstract and ephemeral. “When we sat down to make the record, we wanted to marry the grand cosmic sound of Spiritualized with the emotional resonance of Fleetwood Mac.” – Stephen Ramsay
