In the absence of the almost certainly amazing Glasvegas single, i've landed myself with a mental 9 track album on Enfant Terrible, a Gothic electro imprint from the flatlands. However these Agent Side Grinder chaps are Swedish & have a rather unflattering picture of Berwaldhallen, a legendary symphony hall in their country on the sleeve of their self titled vinyl only LP. They make it look sinister, like a forboding police station or even a public lavvy. It's a fine juxtaposition to the music which is fairly industrial & repetitive with pure jackboot beats, grinding bass & angsty, dark vocals. This will surely appeal to the electro-noir crowd & fans of mid 80s doom rock also taking in NIN & Ministry devotees, It's all very plausible & authentic sounding but a tad claustrophobic for my tastes.
petit enfant 002
Agent Side Grinder is one the most promising new bands in the field of contemporary minimal electronic music.
Their music is firmly rooted in the post-punk, new wave, minimal electronics and industrial tradition and they are following in pioneer's footsteps of the likes of Silver Apples, Suicide, Throbbing Gristle and Liaisons Dangereuses.
No laptops and backing tapes or such things are used. All is done in real time with analogue synths, rhythm boxes and tape loops... in the studio and live on stage...
Agent Side Grinder is the new breed for today!
This is the second release on the Petit Enfant series. This series is for 7" releases only. The artwork and packaging is done by Dutch artist Edwin Stoutjesdijk (also known as dj Kramp from our Hex parties)...

My name is Peter Fristedt I am a member of this band! We didn't use any computers to control any kind of sound generators when this was recorded! No instrument was put direct into the mixing desk everything went through different amplifiers in a acoustic room! More info about this on the sleeve of this great little 7'!!! Album out in December!!!
