A special gift for Iceland. From a few Icelandics and other fellows from the Morr Music landscape. Originally this compilation is put together because of two Morr Music label nights, one in Reykjavik, the other in Akureyri, also a nice place to be. Both terminated in early June 2007 under a glimmering sun, a northern light that never goes out in those days. A perfect mood for shiny music. Benni Hemm Hemm opens up with a song already released on 7” (anost16). “Aldrei”, is the collaboration with his brother in emphasis Jens Lekman, "Skavars", another one from Benni Hemm Hemm, comes in a rainy version (nomen est omen) this time. Both songs are intimate and expressive at the same time. The Go Find follows up with its just invented elegant pop (listen to the beautiful “stars on the wall”, released earlier 2007). “Ice Bear” is an arctic item, close to the ear, deep in the snow. “Perfume V” is a high-definition cover version of a Pavement classic. Both tracks are unreleased and so far only on this compilation. Third is Isan from southern England, without words but never speechless. Electronic landscapes with
some references to Iceland – “Re-spring My Sing Reverse” is a newly arranged remix of a track by the Reykjavik based Múm, Isan once made. The world is round and so the music comes from one place to another and home again. Right from Reykjavik is Seabear, the newest signing of Morr Music. Viola, guitars, glockenspiel, Seabear is about the essence, the easiness and the complexity of all time pop music. Somewhere between Belle and Sebastian under a wide open northern sky. Seabear’s debut
album is going to be released in august 207 on Morr. Last but not least (and in cause of the alphabetical order) is Tarwater,
the well-known soundwriting duo from Berlin. Bernd Jestram and Robert Lippok offer two new unreleased songs close to their
current album “Spider Smile”, dub to blues, electronic to analogue, songs to sounds – and vice versa.
