Wiqwar has a nice summery CD out on the Fence label. 'Village Hall' is the fourth installment in their Picket Fence series. It seamlessly blends electronics and acoustic guitar. The triumph is that the electronics fit around and compliment the guitar perfectly rather than a load of electronic beats with guitar thrown over the top.9 tracks in total in handmade sleeves. Ltd no doubt.About six months ago, the bods at Fence HQ received a package,
containing two CD’s of folky-electronic rumblings, put together by
Russell Wickwar (aka wiQwar). Unsolicited demos are usually melted down
to make badge supplies for MC Quake - but this collection of tunes
didn’t leave the office stereo. In fact, wiQwar’s
blissed-out-summer-sun-kissed acoustic buzzings became the soundtrack
for most of the autumn and winter - saving us from having to use the
fan-heater. Now the summer is almost upon us, and wiQwar has cobbled
together a picket fence entitled “village hall” - best accompanied by
watching the sun’s glow through closed eyelids.
