Omens Jot - Ill Head

Ill Head by Omens Jot

Welcome back to Omen's Jot! Been a long, long time since the 12" came out on Ampoule and it's great to get some gnarly sounds from this top quality label and in such limited quantities. To give you an idea of what you're getting here, the limited edition postcard that comes with these copies says 'It's only 3 inches but it's hard as fuck' - and I honestly can't argue with that at all! Definitely residing at the heavier end of the Talent / Ampule sound these 2 pieces are tough as nails and hark back to a heavy, grungy Techno sound the likes of which I haven't heard for ages. The first track almost comes across like a twisted version of Fuse's 'Train Tracs' with a militant, distorted beat and weird analogue sound tweaks... almost acidic, but not quite. It'll get into your head, grab your cerebral cortex and not let go... that's what I'm talking about. The second cut follows on in a similar vein with a cracking 4/4 beat and big, bold, brassy sounds that cut into the mix. Think along the lines of Aphex's 'Quoth'but with a more mechanical feel and you're getting there. Quality gear as always and worth getting rather quickly if you're a fan of the label. Comes in a glossy black clam-shell case with the aformentioned postcard. Super deluxe!
