I've just been greeted with a brand spanking new Sahko 12" from Mika Vainio's wicked Ø project. The spacious electro groove reminds me of a track off the recent Pan Sonic album. This is not quite as stripped down as some of his earlier material for the label. An excellent dark groove with ace metallic percussion. 'Ikuinen' is the 21st release on the label and has a slightly different mix on the flipside.brand new material from Mika Vainio - one half of Pan Sonic or simply Ø. Recorded earlier this year, this is the first new
material from the Ø project in a few years and is just as seismic as you'd hope. 'Ikuinen' is perhaps Vainio's exploration into
the work of John Carpenter. Both sides are essentially two parts of one long, brooding track and while people expecting a 4/4
minimal techno workout might be shocked, have no fear - a totally essential 12" from one of the world's finest electronic
musicians.
