What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Ant feeling happy.

Apparently Way Out Records (who put out that Molloy 7") have had to change their name. They've changed it to Happy Release Records and they have a 7" out by Dirty Hands. My hands are filthy, I probably ought to wash them. 'Get On Yer Bike (Charlie)' is what this one is called. I like it when song titles have words in brackets at the end. My favorite is mucky Michael Bolton's 'Can I Touch You (There)', anyway this Dirty Hands 7" is a laddish stop start indie beast that talks about someone falling off their bike. Falling off your bike is rubbish.

What the label says:

‘Transmitter/Receiver’ / ‘Sterile World’ is the debut single by Kontakte, featuring two heavenly slices of the purest krautrock infused with a knowing sensibility. Kontakte are Ian Griffiths (Fender Precision Bass, programming), Neil Rudd (Gibson Les Paul, Fender Stratocaster, percussion, programming) and Ben Worth (Fender Toronado) and were formed by Griffiths in and around London during the early part of 2006. Kontakte are informed by all things sonic – with a deep love for Kraftwerk, Neu!, Spacemen 3, My Bloody Valentine and Brian Eno – infused with a knowing sense of post, drone, space and krautrock. The band’s love for distorted beats, transience, and star-scraping melodies resonate through every track they play, creating challenging sounds that leave an indelible impression on the listener. They are continually striving to push their sound further, louder, faster, more beautiful; it is a thing of movement, never at a standstill, always heading towards the future.Kontakte’s profile has continued to rise just by word of mouth alone and has quickly gained them some high profile shows, not least of which was supporting Can¢s very own Damo Suzuki for his two London shows, with the privilege of actually playing with him on the second night! The band’s career continues to blossom still, having also been invited to play the main stage on the Sunday at ‘Hawkfest’ – Donnington, after Hawkwind were told about the band and checked out their Myspace.
