THE EARLY 90S WERE A PROLIFIC TIME FOR BRIAN DOUGANS AND GARRY COBAIN, OTHERWISE KNOWN AS THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON. THEIR WORK UNDER VARIOUS GUISES MENTAL CUBE, INDO TRIBE, YAGE, CANDESE, AND SEMI REAL ETC THROUGH SINGLES AND ‘PULSE’ EP’S ON JUMPIN’ & PUMPIN’ ULTIMATELY LEAD TO A MAJOR BREAKTHROUGH WITH “PAPUA NEW GUINEA” AND THE START OF THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON PHENOMENA. “PAPUA NEW GUINEA” AND THEIR AWARD WINNING “ACCELERATOR” ALBUM (‘BEST DANCE ALBUM 1992’) CHANGED THE LANDSCAPE FOR THE TRANCE, AMBIENT, ELECTRONICA AND DANCE MUSIC SCENE, AND FROM THAT SAME PERIOD COMES A COLLECTION OF PREVIOUSLY UNHEARD MUSIC FEATURED HERE. THE FOUR TRACKS ON THIS “ARCHIVED” EP ARE TAKEN FROM A SERIES OF ALBUMS “FROM THE ARCHIVES” VOLUMES 1, 2 & 3”, ALL PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED TRACKS FROM THE EARLY 90S. AWARENESS OF THESE TRACKS CAME ABOUT THROUGH THE FUTURE SOUND OF LONDON’S WEBSITE AND THE GUYS HAVE BEEN BOMBARDED WITH REQUESTS TO ISSUE THESE TRACKS SINCE THEY FIRST CAME TO LIGHT.
ALL TRACKS ARE CLASSIC SOUNDCAPES FROM THE GUYS, AMBIENT, ATMOSPHERIC AND EVEN DANCEFLOOR FRIENDLY ON MORE UNUSUAL TRACKS LIKES “SPACE SQUIDS”.

About the humble 12":

The 12" is the big brother of records as it's an fatter version of the 7", with a vast scope for an array of remixes and B sides. They are slightly less portable their smaller inched brethren but they're by no means inferior. Often the grooves are spaced wider apart and thus sound much much better. You can fit ample tracks on and if worse comes to worse they make fine plates (should your crockery go awol). Yes, there's a hole but holes are easy to sort out. Once again they're available on many different colours and guises. The best thing about a 12" is the potential vastness of the artwork. Also playable on many speeds!!
