The Killers, this week celebrating the millionth sale of their Sam’s Town album in the UK, have confirmed the release of a new single on June 25th. For Reasons Unknown will come out around the band’s headline performances at Glastonbury, T In The Park and V Festivals this summer.
The Killers have already had quite a start to the year, triumphing in two categories at February’s Brit Awards - Best International Group and Best International Album. That month’s Arena tour, which included two shows at Wembley, sold out in a morning, and the band are now in the midst of their biggest US headline tour to date, that includes shows at New York’s Madison Square Gardens, Denver’s legendary Red Rocks amphitheatre, and a spectacular kicking off to proceedings last Monday at Los Angeles’ 20,000 capacity Staples Centre.
For Reasons Unknown has fast evolved into one of the real live highlights of Sam’s Town since the band began touring the record late last year, with Brandon Flowers adding to his vocal/keyboard duties by picking up the bass for the first time to add a gutsy edge to the song. It’s easy to see why For Reasons Unknown will be one of the songs to make The Killers the band to see at festivals this summer.
