The Horrors
She is The New Thing/ Drawn Japan

This record left our Phil feeling unmoved.
I rather shamefully liked the last Horrors single. After hating the 1st few indie singles and hating them with every bone in my body I kind of liked it. Hoorah for tiny independent Polydor. They have a new single out called She is The New Thing released on 2 x 7" and CD. All with different tracks on so it gets a nice high chart position. I don't like this one quite as much... it sounds a bit like a really crap Cramps. Compared to a lot of the other chaff that's rammed down my overweight misery ears it's not that bad at all. I'm a mixed bag. All confused...

What their label says...
The Horrors are back with their hookiest and most visceral single yet, “She Is The New Thing” on 25th June.
Released the day after they return from what will undoubtedly be 2 unforgettable performances at this year’s Glastonbury festival, this, their most accessible album cut to date, will be available on CD and 2 x 7” Vinyls, for a fan-driving 1 week only. Each format has a different coloured cover on the same 3, enticing fans to buy all x3 as a set.
The formats come back with never released before must-have tracks for their hardcore fanbase - “Sister Leonella" (produced by Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs), an alternative version of album track “Excellent Choice” with a different story to that told on the album, and finally a Dandi Wind remix of the much loved album track “Draw Japan".
Always keen to achieve excellence in their visual output, “She Is The New Thing” is supported by their most inventive video yet, a compellingly dark take on the track, mixing live footage with ghoulish animation. Watch it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTgOe9Uda54, where you’ll join the 20,000+ other people who have already watched it in the few days it’s been live.
The band have just completed a run of European shows to rapturous reviews, and are heading Stateside for a highly anticipated headline tour (the US response has been fantastic, with an initial ship of 30,000 albums already on Island Def Jam imprint Stolen Transmission), before returning for a string of festival appearances, kickstarted by Glastonbury.
