More retro sounding indie pop on a kind of skiffle tip. Maggie reckons that Sigma's 'Maybe Baby' sounds like The Libertines. She has a point. This is going to appeal to you peeps digging the sounds of bands like The Bishops. It's the debut single from this York band. Maybe they're cheering all the York folk up after the chocolate factories closed down. It's the kind of thing I can imagine my mum and dad dancing to years ago. On Young And Lost Club.

Maybe Baby is the debut single from sprightly York band The Sigma, due for release on Young & Lost Club on May 21st 2007.

The Sigma are Simon, Charlie, Louis and Bummer.  A  shimmering indie-pop record, Maybe Baby is the ideal way to herald the arrival of summer – the perfect soundtrack to sunshine and cider in the park.  With a sound that recalls like-minded contemporaries The Maccabees and Vincent Vincent & The Villains, it’s classic British rock’n’roll injected with a 21st century zest.

Hailing from York, the band are nonetheless already interwoven into the indie circuit, with Bummer (the Drummer) being the starting point for an indie equivalent of Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon (Six Degrees of Bummer The Drummer perhaps) - elder sibling of a member of up-and-coming teens One Night Only, he also drums for another band on everyone’s lips at the moment, Joe Lean & The Jing Jang Jong (Joe Lean being the former drummer for The Pipettes).

Maybe Baby is the latest release from Young & Lost Club – who have previously put out debut singles by Vincent Vincent & The Villains, Pull Tiger Tail, Fear Of Flying, Larrikin Love and Johnny Flynn & The Sussex Wit.
