Sepia Hours: "When we'll cross these days, these seasons and their closes", sounds like a bad translation into English of something that'd sound good in French or Flemish maybe. Recorded across various European locations and with sleeve artwork that overlays various maps to dizzying effect-like the confused entry into a psycho-geographic log book. The music, in turn, layers vocals, electronics and what sounds like bowed strings and other acoustic instruments into a drifting, lilting journey of strangely affecting and melancholic musings.Having already released 5 albums on various
netlabels (such as Sundays in Spring, Social Fashion
or Beat is Murder), he once again gives us, with
this sixth record, his very own vision of contemporary
pop music.
Blurry low key vocals wander through some interesting
soundscapes created from gently slipping
amalgams of guitar lines, splintered minimalism
and the odd unexpected sonic detour. The mood is
not however dark, but rather calm and peaceful.
The landscape of sound is very serene.
Between instrumental minimalism, indie songs,
experimentation and electronics, whispers and
veiled samplers, between attempts and unavoidable
errors, sounds investigations try to come as
pure organic material.
