Carbon/ Silicon is Tony James (Sigue Sigue Sputnik) and Mick Jones (The Clash). They've got it together to form this kind of supergroup (of sorts). Only it sounds like a cross between Big Audio Dynamite & Carter The Unstoppable Sex Machine. Two great great bands from the 80's. Their names crop up everywhere . Brilliant. The News is on 7" and CD· CARBON/SILICON WAS FORMED BY OLD FRIENDS MICK JONES AND TONY JAMES, WHO PLAYED IN THE LEGENDARY LONDON SS TOGETHER IN THE LATE 70’S – BEFORE MICK WENT OFF TO JOIN THE CLASH, AND TONY FOR GENERATION X AND SIGUE SIGUE SPUTNIK. THEY FORMED CARBON/SILICON PRIMARILY TO WRITE, RECORD AND USE STUDIO TIME MAKING FREE DOWNLOAD ALBUMS FOR THE INTERNET – THEIR DISCOVERY OF TECHNOLOGY RESULTING IN THE NAME – CARBON BEING HUMAN, AND SILICON BEING COMPUTER. THEIR FIRST BAND INCARNATION PLAYED MELTDOWN AT THE FESTIVAL HALL AFTER BEING INVITED BY PATTI SMITH – AFTER WHICH MICK WENT OFF TO PRODUCE BABYSHAMBLES AND THE LIBERTINES.
· A CONSCIOUS DECISION WAS THEN TAKEN TO FORM A PERMANENT BAND, RECORD ALBUMS TO BE RELEASED COMMERCIALLY, AND START THEIR OWN LABEL TO DO SO. THE BAND THEN BECAME :
