We finally managed to get hold of the hugely hyped Surgeon 'Whose Bad Hands Are These' 12"s on his Dynamic Tension. Surgeon began his career sounding a lot like Jeff Mills but eventually found his own sound. A highly percussive almost industrial approch on techno that retains the funk. His tracks on both these 12"s are nothing particularly new for him, they're somewhere between his Britsh Murder Boys project with Regis and the recent Counterbalance output. The reason these 12"s are so in demand however is because they have remixes from some of the hottest artists in the current techno / dubstep/ electronic scene. Them being Autechre (doing a more straight up techno mix) and the excellent Disinvectant (3 pin Recordings) who deliver the most interesting mix of the bunch with the brummy Genesis P Orridge style vocal and mental lyrics. Part 2 has Monolake delivering a techno mix that's a lot heavier than usual and Vex'd going deep into sub bass territory. Both are really excellent and get the big Ant thumbs up.Tracklisting:
