Bola then... 'Kroungrine' (this time the pun is Crown Green bowler... gerrit?) CD only at the mo cos SKAM can't quite get it together to do vinyl releases in the same year as their digital counterparts. Hopefully this will see the light of day at some point. Anyhoo this is more upbeat than his last couple of albums... in fact it's almost playful at times. The fist time I heard this I thought it was excellent and I still think the same. It's still doing it for me.... nothing particularly fresh or new here but what he does he does well. Decent melodic electronica with some clicks, bleeps and ample beats. Loads of beats this time... I reckon he should call his next album Tom.BOLA - Kroungrine - Skalp/Skald022.
*The new Bola album arrives after a long wait following the slick, and
calm, "Gnayse".
*"Kroungrine" , the fourth full length album from one of the UK's most
long established and respected electronic artists, drops like chewy beef,
and overcooked roasties; it has a crunch and fullness that satisfies and
leaves you feeling truly replenished, and unable to move, except maybe
for just pressin `play' again on that just about reachable remote control..
