 This record left our Maggie feeling unmoved.
Now Jakobinarina. Was so excited to hear this single which is a follow up to their fantastic single His Lyrics Are Disastrous. Sounding like a young Mark E Smith from Iceland he's expressed his lyrical viewpoint that is everything is mediocre thus agreeing with the Kaiser Chiefs that everything is ordinary. A Very twee pop single that's riling the boys in the office.. the rooms turned blue...... I feel a slight loyalty to the lads, so much so I wont review the B-side which is shockingly bad and sounds like school band doing rock and roll. next!!!

who are aged between 16 and 19, are Gunnar on vocals, Heimir and
Hallberg on guitar, Bjorgvin on bass, Agust on keyboards and Sigurdur
on drums.

500 copies limited edition 7” follows the band’s debut EP on Rough
Trade last year, segues quickly into a naggingly insistent riff played

‘Filipino Girl’
on the flip is a glorious slice of old fashioned rock and roll, an
unrestrained and unabashed paean to libidinous desire, it is proof
positive of Jakobinarina’s craft and versatility. Blistering Chuck
Berry guitars join warm Rhodes piano chords for a juke-joints party
replete with false endings. Both tracks were produced by Stan Kybert.
