Fields Of Hay - Songs For 9 Ladies

Songs For 9 Ladies by Fields Of Hay

The Fields Of Hay is a new solo enterprise by Stuart Carter (Theme, Splintered, Heroin, etc.) dedicated to merging electronic and acoustic sounds together in a rich, organic environment at once as comforting as it is faintly disturbing.  ‘Songs for Nine Ladies' is the debut  album and comprises five loosely cohesive pieces, created with simple patterns, organic embedded samples, electronic sound effects, field recordings, voices and digital manipulation as an exercise in nature versus technology. The moods it nudges into view is, in equal measures, calm and intense, melodic and improvised, warm and inviting, and listeners should be able to almost feel the sun on  their face during the opening piece.  Several guests are also included on the album. Sonic Boom (E.A.R., Spectrum, Spacemen 3, etc.) appears on the first two tracks,  Richard Johnson (Theme, Splintered, etc.) features on a further two pieces and Lukasz of Zenial also makes an appearance.  Overall, ‘Songs for Nine Ladies’ makes for a fine entrance, exuding a confidence and a firm grasp of a terrain which commands repeated listens and unravels something new or different every time.
