First up Al Duvall. Now this would have probably been my favourite release of 2003 had it come out then. But now its finally available for mass consumption it sounds better than ever. What a record.WHAT A RECORD!!! 'The most remarkable record I've heard in ages'. No, not my words. The words of Brian sitting here just to my right. How to describe it? I simply can't do it justice in words. Its kind of old fashioned singing and playing with banjo's kazoo's and ukulele. It could have been made anytime in the last 100 years or so. The songs are insanely catchy - every one is a winner. The lyrics are funny and entertaining. You simply can't keep your ears off it. I'm fishing around hopelessly for comparisons: maybe Crabstick's 'Stud or Houseboy' LP from ages ago or American oddballs like The Tinklers or Ed's Redeeming Qualities, the upcoming Charlie Parr CD (but chirpier) or I suppose George Formby other than that I'm lost (but happy). Utter utter genius of the highest order. Thank you V/VM.lantana
