This is the second single on DFA from Prinzhorn Dance School. They supported LCD Sound System on a sold-out UK tour and will be playing Triptych and more UK dates in June, followed by another single in July and an album in August.
Tobin Prinz and Suzi Horn said: "We wrote some songs in a broken down ex-chapel and liked the way they felt – sparse, stripped back and honest. We like to hear everything clearly. We like things simple. We don't fuss over equipment - we just bought a couple of new bits to record the album. We started recording it in a National Trust cottage in Devon. We like to record by ourselves in isolation. Eventually, we got a half decent kick-drum sound but then got frustrated and threw the drum into the field, so we moved to a barn in Sussex. That felt much better - more like the feeling we got in the chapel - we started to get the sounds we wanted. We went flat out and recorded 16 songs. Time went so fast, soon there was no time left so we headed straight to the airport for a flight to America. When we got to New York we went to the DFA studios and worked with James Murphy, Tim Goldsworthy and Eric Broueck. They helped us mix the record to keep it sparse, stripped-back and honest – to keep the breathing space and to make it loud”.
