Emma Pollock: "Adrenaline" (4AD)Is the debut single from ex Delgados songstress, so if your familiar with their output no doubt you're already on it. Seems the only shift is the label and a sizeable advance to soup up the Chemikal Underground studio and office.Adrenaline’ is a breathless tumble of a song - hooky, dynamic, brimming with confidence, and animated effortlessly by Emma’s bewitching voice. The b-side – ‘A Glorious Day’ is a setting of a poem by Brendan Cleary. Together, the two songs serve advance notice that Emma's debut album, scheduled for release later in 2007, will be something special. ·Emma will be touring in her native Scotland and around England in support of the single.
More about Emma Pollock: As a member of Glasgow band The Delgados, and a founder of their pioneering Chemikal Underground record label Emma Pollock has long been an influential and highly respected figure in independent music. The Delgados released 5 critically acclaimed albums during 10 years together - including ‘The Great Eastern’, which was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize in 2000. Slightly obscured by her band's collective achievements was the fact that Emma is one of the most engaging singers and natural songwriters around - so it was great news for lovers of intelligent and intricately-crafted songs when - after the Delgados called it a day - Emma signed to 4AD as a solo artist.
