Paul Haig: "Reason" (Rol Inc) Ex of Josef K the ace Scottish Post-Punk band. One of a handful of angular outfits who have garnered a reappraisal thanks to Franz Ferdinand, Futureheads etc. This is a slice of cod-funk with bubbling bass and pleading vocal-croon & bah bah ba da da dah chorus. Not quite as exciting as I wanted it to be, wonder if he's still got his slick box-head hair cut?Paul Haig is set to release his first single in an age, on very ltd edition 7" vinyl and also as a download on June 4, 2007.
ONLY 300 7" VINYL MANUFACTURED!
Who is Paul Haig? He just happened to be lead singer/songwriter in "Josef K, who have become one of the most influential bands in Britain" (The Guardian). Paul's influence can clearly be heard on the outpourings of the current crop of post-punk angular pop romantics - name checked by Franz Ferdinand in particular as a massive influence. Right now, Paul's been mixing his 80's pop credentials with a stripped back hard edged modern sound. Maybe listening back to Kraftwerk, Africa Bambatta, Cabaret Voltaire, Mantronik and Bowie and perhaps giving a sly wink to the current young bloods who would steal his crown.

great to hear Paul Haig back singing again - reason is economic makes its point gives you the big 80's hook and moves on...do i detect a feeling of hope from the doomed Josef K like figure in that outro?
