Meg Baird - Dear Companion

Dear Companion by Meg Baird

4...according to our on Fri 18 May, 2007.

I recall reviewing a Meg Baird single a while back and thinking that she had a really sweet voice. She's a member of Espers who I'm not overly familiar with but I know that Phil is a huge fan(ny). Her LP 'Dear Companion' on Drag City is proper bittersweet folk. Unlike a lot of singer songwriter gear these days that gets put under the folk umbrella. This is one woman her guitar and her songs. There are also a few trad numbers on here. She looks like a total hippy chick on the sleeve with her Led Zeppelin pendant. Bless her.

Meg Baird is a founding member of and principal songwriter in Espers. DEAR COMPANION is her first solo album. After the much-celebrated release of ESPERS II last year, Meg’s acoustic album has a base of passionate, interested listeners.DEAR COMPANION pairs traditional songs with cover tunes and a few original compositions. There are plenty more songs out there and more to write — expect to hear more from Meg in the future.
