OVERVIEW: The Used return with the release of a new single The Bird And The Worm on May 14th. Their third studio album Lies For The Liars will follow on May 21st on Reprise. Recorded in Foxy Studios, Los Angeles with producer John Feldmann (Good Charlotte, Story of the Year, Atreyu), Lies For The Liars finds The Used pushing the boundaries and expectations of their sound. The opening track The Ripper has the driving power that typified their previous album but also adds a unique touch of creativity to its post-hardcore approach. The Bird And The Worm incorporates elements of post-punk with some vibrant strings for one of the band’s finest moments to date, whilst Smother Me is an intimate piano ballad. With originally drummer Branden Steineckert having left the band (and since resurfacing in Rancid), The Used called upon Dean Butterworth (Good Charlotte, Morrissey, Ben Harper) to fill in for the recording of Lies For The Liars. Dan Whitesides, formerly of fellow Utah band The New Transmit Direction, is Steineckert’s replacement.
