What we say about Ten Songs For Town And Country, by The Shot Heard Round the World
This record left our Phil feeling happy.
Here’s a CD by The Shot The Heard Round The World which had the thickest plastic wrapping on a CD I’ve ever seen. I had to use a knife to get into the thing. Me and knives aren’t a great combo. It’s lucky I didn’t end up in hospital or something (I have to eat with a plastic spoon you know). Here’s a nice slice of alt country/ folk rock/ indie with proper songs, fun tunes… nothing too serious but an enjoyable romp nonetheless. Think of Paul Simon mixed with Of Montreal… it’s quirky alright and reckon it would be a right grower. I have a feeling the young Clinton may like this one. Ten Songs For Town And Country is CD only folks!
What the label says about Ten Songs For Town And Country, by The Shot Heard Round the World:
Mountain Landis Record Label is proud to announce the release of “Ten
Songs for Town and Country,” the first full length release from Brooklyn-based
band The Shot Heard 'Round the World.
After self-releasing a set of home-recorded tracks on 3” CD and taking a
tour of the western states, Papa John and Ron da doo Ron retreated to a cabin in
rural Vermont to record their full length debut. Accompanied by friends, they
emerged from the woods with the recordings that make up “Ten Songs for Town
and Country.”
The songs of the Shot Heard Round the World are indebted to the pop
forefathers of the 60's but chart a course all their own. They are four minute pop
symphonies complete with piano, tambourine, handclaps and glockenspiel.
