12012291920 / 1414101 is the coming together of two distinct creative forces in the form of Atavist (UK) & Nadja (Can) and represents an abstract detraction from both of the bands previous works. The feel of the album is one of blissful escapism presented through harmonious audio manipulation, intricate melody and polarising heaviness. This release sees Atavist / Nadja placing the listener into an dreamlike environment throughout the albums two expansive tracks by using an innovative array of layered sounds, abstract guitar work, subsonic bass levels and delicate electronics to give a desolate, yet warm full length album. 12012291920 / 1414101 is not a split album, rather a collaborate effort between Atavist & Nadja with each artist bringing their own components to the whole. Nadja Biography NADJA is a duo of Aidan Baker (guitars/vocals/piano/woodwinds/drums) & Leah Buckareff (bass/vocals). NADJA originally began in 2003 as a solo project for Baker to explore the heavier/noisier side of his experimental/ambient guitar-based music. In 2005 Buckareff joined in order to make the project more than just a studio endeavour & allow NADJA to perform live. NADJA creates music that has been described as drone, ambient-doom, and shoegazer-metal. NADJA combine soundscapes, electronics, & atmospheric vocals with snail-crawl, epic riffs & dirge-like percussion, tempering the cacophony with a certain ethereal melodicism such that the listener is enveloped in a sublimating wall of amorphous sound. After several limited edition CDr releases, NADJA released their first official album Truth Becomes Death on Montreal's Alien8 Recordings in 2005. They have since released material for Conspiracy Records, Profound Lore Records, & Utech Records. Atavist Biography Hailing from the UK, ATAVIST create some of the most negative and evil sounding extreme doom like no other band today. Having made quite the name for themselves in their short time of existing, already taken under the wing of sunn O))) and the now-disbanded Khanate.. ATAVIST amalgamate the histrionic vibes of the aforementioned artists, but throw in their own evil twist on the proceedings by creating some of the most painful and introverted sounds that the extreme doom metal scene has to offer. After a number of demo CDr’s, ATAVIST released their self titled debut CD/2 x LP on Bristol’s Invada Records in early 2006 to critical acclaim and plan to follow the album up in 2007 with a new full length, II: Ruined.
