What we say

Rating: ecstatic This record left our Ant feeling ecstatic.

Ant here, somewhat excited to be listening to a new CD from Tatamax . It's funny this should turn up as just the other day I dug out the Fairy Glen Appearences cassette on Skam and wanted to listen to it again, only to realise that I no longer own a tape player. Obsolete technology? It's nice when people keep it going. This here 'Wells Sentry CD' is a real treat to the ears.19 tracks that Fuse music concrete, cut up tricky electronics, haunting ambience, dark soundscapes and the sound of machines malfunctioning. . I reckon producer Luke Williams (A.K.A Quinoline Yellow) has been munching on some good welsh mushrooms. A wicked album and we're the only place other than the Uchelfa site that are stocking it. Limited edition with free sticker. Highly recommended.

What the label says:

Uchelfa is pleased to announce Luke Williams' (Quinoline Yellow) debut Tatamax album and fifth release on his own Uchelfa imprint. This full length arrives after having contributed 4 tracks for SKAM records' opening SMAK vinyl series in 2001. A cassette only release entitled 'Fairy Glen Appearances' (SKASSETTE02) in 2003. This 30 minute mix of exclusive tracks coincided with his first live performance at the Autechre curated 'All Tomorrows Parties' that same year. A third release on Uchelfa in 2006, a 35 minute mini album named 'Crasis' and now this full length in 2007. 'Wells Sentry' is a 19 track 55 minute long journey. Enjoy!

About the humble CD:

The CD is essentially a small portable face mirror which has an extra feature of being able to play music (through a thing known as a CD player). These CD's are a modern invention hence them being all shiny and digital. They can hold about 80 minutes of music and apparently are indestructible as you can smear jam on them and they still play (not as nourishing as toast mind you but when you're hungry.....). They sound crystal clear and are tiny convenient things. They lack the charm and warmth of their old analogue counterparts but their portability, convenience and ease of being duplicated make them a perfect thing of a thing for most folks. Jewel cases are the worst thing ever though and they really need to stop.

'foiled again.....'
