What the label says:'La Vida' is the new album by MUS, a duo from Asturias in the north of Spain. Although journalists are looking to the US to discover what is being called post-folk, MUS have re-written their own traditions here and now. MUS is a unique band, where the usually opposing worlds of tradition and the avant-garde meet, as MUS sing in Asturian, a Romantic language as old as Spanish that is now in danger of disappearing. Previous albums (Acuarela) were voted by the Spanish music press as among the best records of 2002 and 2004, and for 'La Vida' MUS leave the darkness of their previous work behind and opt for gleaming hypnotic guitars, autoharps, clear voices and the traditional poetry of Asturias - almost like some kind of blues, with Mónica achieving new heights both as a singer and a performer. |
