Clone Quartet: "Carousel" (Tigertrap) Apt title, this is the sort of so-called up lifting pop that gets played first thing in the morning on your more alternative/commercial radio station. Not exactly the kind of tune that gets me bounding out of bed first thing, in fact if I heard it i'd probably turn it off, that is if it hasn't finished by the time I've awoken. It clocks in at just under three minutes. Too much energy indeed!Northern Irish pop scoundrels Clone Quartet release their new single 'Carousel' / 'Played To Death' via Tigertrap Records on 14th May 2007. The
release will be available on a limited edition 7" and a CD, both limited to just 500 copies and both featuring special hand-built card sleeves.
The band deal in colliding electro rhythms with synthetic stabs and spiky guitar riffs, creating kick-ass edgy pop songs that tear up indie clubs as well as dance clubs. Clone Quartet's efforts have not gone unnoticed either. A recent support slot with The Rapture, guest appearances with Phill Jupitus (6Music), Rory McConnell (Radio 1) and a slot on ATL (a BBC Northern Ireland music TV show) attest that their star is rising rapidly. The band also received acclaim
for their collaboration with Turner Prize nominated performance artist Tomoko Takahashi and DrownedinSound.com named 'Carousel' as one of their
tracks of the year.
