 This record left our Ant feeling happy.
The second 12" on Shockout in the space of a week has found it's way onto the deck. This one's called 'Quemala' and is by DJ/Rupture Vs Filastine feat. Ras Mario & Timedo Flow. Filastine bring their trademark middle eastern influences into the mix and with the phat dancehall riddims and sparse bass rumbles they work well The MC'ing is in some language I can't understand. If it was welsh I'd be okay. I'd love to hear some welsh dancehall. That would rule. Rupture goes for a far tougher and uptempo mix injecting some mangled breaks and crunchy distortion into what is almost a full on floor shredder. There is a bizzare piano sounding noise in there too...

Features Cuban MCs Ras Mario and Timedo Flow
Stateless beat-smith Filastine built the Quémalo riddim on a rooftop in Rio de Janeiro, welding together lo-fi Arabic violin stabs with chunky ragga tempo kiks and a syncopated ricochet of snares. On top of this, Cuban rappers Ras Mario and Timedo Flow spit wild Spanish rhymes, contra Babylon, and insist we burn it down now. This track starts the fire. On the flipside DJ Rupture, the artist who inserted the boot back into booty, kicks it again with his totally mutated remix, thick with nasty synthetic basslines and doubletime drums. In the last year and half Filastine dropped his full length debut Burn It on Soot Records and delivered his transnational, shopping cart-mounted soundclash to clubs, squats, festivals, boats, and streets around the globe. Before that he was busy fucking shit up with the anarcho-marching band Infernal Noise Brigade.
