Say Jansfield/ Port Sulphur - Harvest Rex

Harvest Rex by Say Jansfield/ Port Sulphur

4...according to our on Thu 17 May, 2007.

A split 7" on Creeping Bent by Say Jansfield: "Harvest Rex" and Port Sulphur feat Jock Scot & Gareth Sager: "Faith Healer" on the flpside. One part perfect summertime pop that our Moggoo reckons should be played to our so-called 'World Leaders' in an attempt to calm them down, chill em' out so to speak. Released as precursor to an album and a tour supporting Kevin Ayres. Lovely falsetto vocals and simple strum and pick, over before you've had time to decide what you want for brekkie...porridge or museli, done before your toast pops up. The flip is like a disco handclap rock type hymn version of the Sensational Alex Harvey Band song with (post-poonk history students take note). Postcard Records Poet and ex-Pop Group member on free-noise clarinet apparently. Part of CB's Black label series

Say Jansfield Port Sulphur release their debut single, "HARVEST REX", as their contribution to Creeping Bent's Black Label series. It is their most concise recording thus far, sounding not unlike a modernist take on some of Harvest Records' finest  (Barrett /Ayers /Chapman /Harper).Their debut album, Autumn Burrows, is set for release in the Summer, and will be supported with some touring as special guest of Kevin Ayres. Port Sulphur release their debut as their contribution. It is an avant-techno version of "The Faith Healer" by the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. This version features Postcard Records' punk - poet Jock Scot on vocals, with ex Pop Group majordomo on free-noise fuzz - clarinet. "Let me put my hands on you...." The next Port Sulphur single is a contorted take on the Fire Engines' "Discord".
