More East Kilbride vibrations, this time pop savants and Peel favourites The Secret Goldfish. The Goldfish were formed by former members of C86 stalwarts Fizzbombs & the MacKenzies, under the influence of Vic Godard & the Subway Sect, early Orange Juice, 60's girl groups, & Bobbie Gentry. "PINK DRONE" is a classic motornik groove, kickin' out the jams in Polo City.Expect a new album in the Summer., "Petal Split", which features songwriting collaborations with Vic Godard, and Davy Henderson (Fire Engines/The Nectarine No9.)Scientific Support Dept. is an electronic dub collective led by Docherty. Their music has been slipping into the Scottish sub-conscience over the last few years, with a series of compilation appearances, gigs, theatre and film scores and remixes.
Though primarily a studio project, their live shows are selective and expansive, featuring various collaborators on violin, moog, trumpet and decks. Appearances have included a sold out show at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow, slots at the Trip-tych and Burnt-Out festivals (supporting To Rococo Rot at the latter). SSD have worked with artists as diverse as Alan Vega, DJ Harri, Mount Vernon Arts Lab, Adventures in Stereo, Daddy's Favourite, King Creosote, James Kirk, but their forthcoming album "Cabbageneck" marks the beginning of a period of focus on their own music. "Kipper Lynch" is the opening salvo from the album.
