Arms - Whirring/ Jon The Escalator

Whirring/ Jon The Escalator by Arms

I do like the Arms 'Whirring' 7" on Melodic. Pretty classic indie rock ala The Bunnymen with some hints of Richard Hawley in the vocals. The guitar riff is exactly like Downtown by Petula Clark!

‘Whirring’ is the debut single from Arms, aka 24-year old Brooklynite Todd Goldstein.
Influences ranging from Stephen Merritt to Elvis Costello are channelled into music that looks beyond the usual realms of the singer songwriter - think of Arms as a band, but with one person filling every slot.
‘Whirring’ (and its B-side, ‘Jon The Elevator’) come from the time when Goldstein first moved to New York and had difficulties coping with big city life.
Outside of Arms, Goldstein is in one of New York’s most talked about bands, The Harlem Shakes.
Limited to 400 only.
