What we say

Rating: happy This record left our Ant feeling happy.

TARENTEL make an appearance on Type with the 'Home Ruckus: Double Sided Air'. Mingus and Phil are having a discussion about the pronunciation of the band name. Phil claims he wins as he is wearing a Tarentel T-shirt. Meanwhile the sounds that emit from the speakers are chilled ambient guitar experiments, drones and washes of effects create a deeply atmospheric mood. The flipside takes things further with wondering percussion and chimes. Almost like the soundtrack to some buddhist ritual. We have the latest two volumes in the 'Ghetto Beats On The Surface Of The Sun LP series too and restocks of the first two. All your Tarentel needs can be fully accommodated, here at Norman Records music emporium.

What the label says:

- The next installment in SF experimental/post-rock collective Tarentel's collectible Home Ruckus series.
- Limited to only 500 copies worldwide!
'Home Ruckus : Double-Sided Air' is the latest emission from San Francisco's shape-shifting Post Post Rockers Tarentel and is
one of their most thoughtful moments to date. With references to the clattering percussion of Chris Corsano, the droning
ambience of Mirror or Stars of the Lid and the almost spiritual improv of Sunburned Hand of the Man the band have totally
sidestepped their previous sound and found a fresh and desperately involving voice. Made up of two tracks, both part of one
all-encompassing whole these are home-recorded gems, improvised without being directionless and experimental without
losing sight of the fact that people might want to listen to the music. Strictly limited to 500 copies, this is the perfect follow-up
to the band's long-sold out Home Ruckus LP on the Root Strata label, and is sure to be snapped up by eager fans very quickly.
Cosmic!

About the humble 7":

The humble 7" is the smallest of the vinyl formats (not including the ridiculous 5") and it's the perfect medium for transporting a couple of new songs by up and coming bands straight into your ears. They're fun and they take up less space in your house than something bigger would. They come in a plethora of exciting colours and fantastical packages, and you can fit about 14 minutes onto one 7". You may have to get up every few minutes to put a new record on but think of the exercise. Don't forget every record you buy plays at least 2 speeds (depending on your stereo) and you need to play all records on all speeds to get the maximum joy from your purchase.
