Emvelope Nine - Melt Canal

Melt Canal by Emvelope Nine

4...according to our on Fri 13 Apr, 2007.

Now on Split Femur recordings we have EMVELOPE NINE with his first full length album Melt Canal. It's a warm sounding ambience recording reminiscent of Fennesz and Tim Hecker. Soft thuds sit beneath repeating drones and waves of sound. Built up with guitar pedals, synths and field recordings it really is a lovely sonic exploration into rhodes piano sounds. deep warm soothing... nice

Emvelope Nine- ‘Melt Canal’ SFR002

West Midlands based label Split Femur Recordings began their journey with their first release ‘The Yellow Square’ by Staffordshire based musician Planivaar. The second Split Femur release is Emvelope Nine’s ‘Melt Canal’. Emvelope Nine is Alan Daly, a Birmingham born musician. He began making electronic music whilst studying Music Technology at a local college and continued to progress throughout university.

He began releasing music under the Emvelope Nine moniker back in 2006 with two well received EP’s up for free download from www.earthmp.com. Melt Canal, his first full length just shows how far he has come since then.

Released April 16th 2007, Melt Canal is a beautiful and haunting piece of work. Using guitar, pedals, synths and field recordings, the pieces seem to stay in one place, creating a sonic environment that allows the listener to furnish themselves. The album is reminiscent of Vladislav Delay, Fennesz and Tim Hecker, but still manages to become a piece of work of it’s own.
