The All New Adventures Of Us - St Crispin's Got Our Backs

St Crispin's Got Our Backs by The All New Adventures Of Us

4...according to our on Fri 13 Apr, 2007.

I've got their new signing on Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly's new label Mannequin Republic. They're called THE ALL NEW ADVENTURES OF US. It's quite a charming indie twee pop 7" with skippy beats and plenty of instrumentation with their 7 strong gang of members. I think they're after the famous five vibe and I suppose it does have a modicum of wonder. Having said that its pretty commercial sounding with the cabbage patch Boris Johnson lookalike frontman singing his heart out with anthemic passion. There is plenty of thought gone into the tunes with many movements taking it above the usual batch of cocky wannabe's. pop-tastic.

‘St Crispin’s Got Our Backs’ and ‘The Art Of The High Five’ is the first release on Get Cape
Wear Cape Fly’s newly-launched label The Mannequin Republic. The band has just finished
several live dates with Get Cape.
Imagine the Secret Seven going to music school and running away with all the instruments
before the lesson even begins. Mandolins, pianos, guitars, strings, casiotones, trumpets,
theremins, boy/girl vocals, melodicas, harmonicas, lapsteel guitars, organs, glockenspiels,
tambourines, ba bas, oohhhs and HEY!s all set the back drop for stories that wouldn’t be out
of place in a book by Eric Carle. The goal is simple; to tell a story through song. No hidden
agenda, simply to explain. And in poetry cooed in the sweetest of contexts, explanations are
what Tanaou stands for. Far from the headquarters of Northampton, England, the landscapes
and narratives are constructed deep in the Umea snow, in the north of Sweden with the
northern lights glowing overhead and eighth member/producer Magnus Lindberg behind the
desk, ready to capture every defeat & every victory, as and when it falls from their fingers and
lips.
