Now the Low Miffs with their single Earl Grey. A tempo-bending Bowie-esque five piece with angular guitars and moments of sit down lounging . A bit like those North East lot Maximo Park or Field Music. Jerky. I think it would take a few listens to get your head round the tune as its all broken into sections making it a chop suey of rock and roll. Its a good tune. Out on Leeds Label Art Goes Pop with cool Johnny Marr slide style ending. Just realised I reviewed their last single and gave it a kicking. This is much improved oh yeh.part jerktastic post punk, part c86 and part art school. the low miffs hang
for dear life from a tightrope they already fell off, one used in a
tug-of-war between the dramatic cabaret of jaques brel and kurt weill on one
side, and benny hill tickling bruce springsteen on the other. they do
something which should be too clever for its own good, but is just too
brilliant not to exist.
