What we say

Rating: unmoved This record left our Phil feeling unmoved.

My first exposure to the new BLOC PARTY stuff. I Still Remember by said indie wunderkinds is out now on 2 x 7" and CD and part of some special multibuy deal if you're quick enough/ can be arsed. Funnily enough I still remember She's Hearing Voices which is a great tune and if you listen to that and this you'd be hard pushed to think it's the same band. Now they sound like such an obvious indie cashcow it's untrue. This is a right old soppy piece of shite and it makes me want to hurls bricks at myself. It's a shame cos they started off so promising.... It's so indie now it hurts.... Coming soon to Hollyoaks....

What the label says:

Bloc Party’s second album A Weekend In The City narrowly missed out topping the UK charts (it entered at No.2 behind Mika) and they scored their biggest hit single with “The Prayer” (number 4).  A Weekend In The City has already shipped in excess of half a million copies worldwide, confirming Bloc Party as one of the UK’s most successful international exports of recent years.

About the humble CD single:

Another digital format and even though they can hold 80 minutes of information (like a CD album would) record companies only fill up a small portion of the disc. Sometimes only 1 or 2 tracks on there totalling 5 minutes or so. It's like going to a restaurant and getting a plate of food with 2 green beans on and wondering where the rest of your meal is. Sometimes they're lovingly packaged though and when the music is good then you're into a winner. Also you get videos on there sometimes which you can watch on your computer. That is excellent.
