This record left our Ant feeling ecstatic.

EFTERKLANG return with their third release for the Leaf label with a mini album housed in a stunning fold out sleeve. I'm hearing bits of Beirut in the mournful vocals on opener 'Falling Horses' Very dramatic stuff. Almost epic at times. There's an immense amount of creativity and passion lurking within the 5 tracks on here. The viola in particular simply weeps at you. This act are made of an immense 8 members and 7 guests yet with so many members none of the ideas become confused. All the elements from the organic to electronic just fuse together to make a cohesive work that is both magical and heart warming. If this isn't destined for huge media praise then I'm going to cut off both my ears with a rusty pen knife and bury them in the garden.

What their label says...

*Copenhagen's Efterklang make a welcome return with a magical re-introduction
to their sound - Under Giant Trees, a limited edition five-track mini-album in
deluxe packaging.
*Returning to Copenhagen at the close of 2005, Efterklang's five core members
set to work recording the foundations of these new songs, with a view to this
stand-alone release.
*Extra vocals, brass and strings were added, with Edda and Hildur from Sigur
Ros' Amiina Quartet recording further violin parts.
*The results are mesmerising - at once vibrant, otherworldly, poignant and
panoramic. Efterklang share the same widescreen vision, production values
and melodic sensibilities as Sigur Ros, Mum and Rachels.
*Opener 'Falling Horses' is one of the most grandiose, evocative songs
Efterklang have yet created. 'Himmelbjerget', translated as 'sky mountain' in
Danish, refers to innocent memories of a gigantic, fantastical Danish mountain
which they later discovered was just 147 metres tall. 'Hands Playing Butterfly'
is a beautiful, tender, tranquil piece of music. Like some ancient Danish drink
-ing song, 'Towards The Bare Hill' is restless and energetic, while 'Jojo'
originates from a particular fascination with harps and koras, and is a fitting
-ly dramatic end to the disc.

*Under Giant Trees will be released worldwide as a strictly limited edition
embossed, individually numbered CDs in deluxe card packaging with four 'puzzle
cards', and a limited edition individually numbered white vinyl lp.

*Tracklisting: 1.  Falling Horses 2.  Himmelbjerget 3.  Hands Playing
Butterfly 4.  Towards The Bare Hill 5.  Jojo
