Tujiko Noriko - Solo

Solo by Tujiko Noriko

4...according to our on Fri 09 Mar, 2007.

TUJIKO NORIKO has a CD out this week on Editions Mego. She is a Japanese lassie who's had releases out on Fat Cat, Room 40 and the previous incarnation of Editions Mego... Mego. Her new CD is a pretty journey through almost twee sounding experimental electronics. High pitched vocals of twinkly and experimental sounds combining together to make an enjoyable listen. On first listen it didn't do much but on that all important 2nd listen it started to make a bit more sense. There's some nice sounds on here which complement her almost ethereal sounding voice. That's about as highbrow as I get.  Translation if you like Japanese women warbling over electronic nonsense you'll love this. Solo is CD only.

9 tracks:

Magic
Sun!
Ending Kiss
Let Me See Your Face
Saigo No Chikyu
Gift
No Error In  My Memory
Spot
In A Chinese Restaurant

Total time: 51:17

Mastered at Piethopraxis, Köln, September 2006.

“Making music was like I drive and drive looking for a place where there is nobody. I would arrive there, wow cool, I get out of the car quickly. Then I happily dance, sing, doing a mini party alone. Doing a solo show alone in a big green field. There is a lake, the sun, a train, an airplane, the city, a forest, camera, second sight & everything in the field. etc. Anyway, it's nice when it's working well. I had forgotten this way of enjoying for a while. Last year, after some collaboration albums, I remembered I wanted to have this feeling again.” Tujiko Noriko, 24.11.2006.

While still maintaing her trademark version of experimental japapnese pop, on ‘Solo’ the edges have been polished with some of Noriko’s most acomplished works. In part due to the mixing skills of Gerhard Potuznik and Tyme (from Mas).
