Maga Bo has done the right thing by finaly releasing some tracks from his recent Confusion Of Tongues mix onto a vinyl 12" in the form of Confusion Of Tongues Part 1. '3akel' features Moroccon MC Bigg who sounds like a right hard bastard if ever I heard one. He makes Big Daddy Kane sound like Tweety Pie. Ragga, dub, grime, Asian, Arabic and south American influences are all thrown into the melting pot. The rhythms are fantastic. includes remixes from remixes by Dr. Das (ex-Asian Dub Foundation), Ghislain Poirier (Chocolate Industries), and Nettle on DJ/ Rupture's Soot label. The first in a 2 part series. Wicked.First in a series of 2 EPs featuring original, unmixed Maga Bo production and remixes by Dr. Das (ex-Asian Dub Foundation), Ghislain Poirier (Chocolate Industries), and Nettle. Each 12″ comes in attractive special packaging featuring hand-branded recycled-cardboard jackets (we burn in the Arabic word for ‘Soot’). EP#1 is a futuristic collaboration involving Morocco’s K-Libre and Bigg — imagine a grimey dubstep banger with vocals from some of north Africa’s most respect rappers and arabesque sampled snippets and you’ll begin to get an idea. The borders are melting. Dr Das — the sonic & social innovator behind Asian Dub Foundation — takes the Maga Bo remix into a dense ragga-dub dancefloor experience. DJ /rupture’s live quartet Nettle did a rare remix for this, using string arrangements and break freakery to refashion the original.
